böcke

The project böcke started with a simple constraint: designing a set of table trestles using only one square meter of 1 mm sheet steel. The only permitted fabrication and joining methods were bending and pop riveting.

At the same time, the trestles needed to function as the base for a standing desk — meaning a height of at least one meter.

These limitations turned the project into an interesting structural challenge. We approached it by distributing the load-bearing properties across three structural beams within each trestle.

By developing a folded corner connection for both the upper and lower joints, as well as three reinforcing folds along the tall legs, we arrived at a new interpretation of the classic table trestle: lightweight, functional, and structurally efficient.
